Face of change: Medical spas make West Virginians feel good about themselves without surgery
Tuscan Sun Spa and owner, Cheri Satterfield, are featured in this article for the State Journal about the growth of Med Spas in West Virginia:
“The thing I’m most happy about, that I’ve seen since I started the spas 10 years ago, are that people are now looking at taking care of themselves as wellness instead of something froufrou and not needed,” she said. “When I first started, it was a real education and it’s still an education in West Virginia for people to allow themselves to take care of themselves.
“West Virginians, we come from a background of hardworking people that feel that if we do something for ourselves that it’s like we’re doing something wrong,” Satterfield elaborated. “I get it. I understand that mentality. Especially women think if we do something nice for ourselves it’s wrong.
“West Virginians are beginning to think, ‘How do we stay in shape? How do we keep our bodies healthy?’ I think the trend will be you’re going to see more people saying, ‘This isn’t a treat. This is a necessity. It’s not just about the looks. If we’re not healthy, we’re not going to live long.’
